| Offline poker tournaments or live poker tournaments are played
at Casinos or Poker rooms. Most casinos and rooms have various
sized buy in's to suit every player. They have rebuy events
and freezouts. If you would like to play live you must normally
join the casino first. Normally, you will be expected to shuffle
and deal on your table when it is your turn, only at the final
table will there be a dealer for you. The exception to this
rule is if it is a big tournament where you may have a dealer
on every table. |
 |
| Do not worry too much about your responsibilities
on the table as if you tell people it is your first time
they will help you by telling you what to do. Each casino
has different rules about what you are allowed to say or
not say during live play. Make a point of finding this out
before you play so you are not caught out. The following
tips below are good guidelines for you to follow. |
| 1 - Always declare what you are going to
do BEFORE you put any chips into the pot. I.E check, raise
or fold. Failure to do this may result in you being forced
to check. |
| 2 - Say how much you are going to raise
BEFORE you put your chips in the middle, put all your chips
in at once instead of in dribs and drabs. If you put your chips
in in dribs and drabs, this is known as a string bet and will
result in you being forced to just call. |
| 3 - Do not act out of turn. If you act
out of turn, it is not only bad etiquette but you will be forced
to do what you said when it is your turn to go. So if you say
raise and there are 4 players that should have gone before
you, you will be forced to raise, whatever they decide to do. |
| 4 - Always protect your cards! This means
not only do not let your opponents see them, but also do not
let them touch any of the community cards in the middle. If
your cards touch any other cards on the table, your hand will
be folded! |
| 5 - Most casinos in the U.K do not allow
you to talk about the cards you are holding, this rule varies
but make it your business to find out before you play. |
| 6 - When you are dealing, tap the table
before you burn and turn the next card. This will let other
players on the table know you are about to deal and stops errors
from happening in the event that you missed someone out. |
| 7 - If you have any problems, call a member
of staff over for an official ruling, do not rely on what any
f the players at the table tell you, they may have their own
agenda or may have got it wrong. |
| 8 - If you use allthe tips etc on this site
and go to a Casino and win the tournament J , it is polite
to tip the bar staff, most casino's do not allow you to tip
the croupier. |
