Omaha high low is a complicated game to learn, but once you have mastered it, the rewards are great. Please read our omaha high low rules below to how to play omaha high low and if you like the look of the game, try it out by visiting the best sites at the bottom of the page.
Absolute Poker whenever where ever
1 - Omaha High Low often has 2 pots to play for a high pot and a low pot. If there are three different cards of 8 or lower on the flop, there will be a low pot to play for also. With 2 or less cards 8 or lower on the flop, there will only be a high pot to play for. Study our hand rankings chart here which will tell you the best high and low hands possible in order.
2 - Two players must post the "blinds" which are amounts of money that the players take in turns to post before seeing there cards. There is the big blind and the small blind. in a $2-4 game, the big blind is $4 and the small blind is $2. This is done to make sure that there is always money in the pot.
3 - Now the blinds are posted, each player is dealt 4 cards face down. There is now a round of betting starting with the player sitting left of the big blind and finishing with the big blind himself to act last. Each person can bet or fold depending on how much they like their cards.
4 - Once the first round of betting is complete, the players left in the hand will progress to see the flop. The flop is 3 cards that are dealt face up on the table and are to be used by each player.
5 - Each player must now work out his best 5 card high hand using 2 of his hole cards and the 3 flop cards. If there are 3 cards 8 or lower on the flop making a low pot possible the player may use 2 hole cards lower than an 8 BUT DIFFERENT from the flop low cards to make a 5 card low hand. If he does not have 2 hole cards 8 or lower different from the 3 low cards on the flop, he will not qualify for a low hand yet and will only be playing for half the pot (the high hand).

6 - A BRIEF EXAMPLE.....

Player 1 holds Ah 2c 10c 4d

Player 2 holds Kd Kc 7s 7d

The flop is 3h 4h 7h

Player A uses his Ah and 10h to make the ace flush for his high hand and then he uses the Ah and 2c to make a 5 card low hand.

Player B Uses his 7s and 7d to make three 7's for his high hand. As he does not have 2 low cards in his hand disfferent to the 3 flop cards he cannot make a low hand. Player B will only ever be able to win half the money in the pot putting him at a big disadvantage.

7 - OK, lets get back to the rules.... After this first round of betting finishes, the dealer will now deal the fourth flop (communal) card, this is known as the "turn". Players must now readjust their best high or low hands if they have changed at all after this card. Another round of betting now ensues.
8 - Those players still in the pot after this round of betting will now see the 5th and final flop card known as the "river". After the river is dealt, players will have to work out their best high hand and where possible their best low hand and bet accordingly for the last time.
9 - Once the last round of betting is over, the players left in the pot turn over their cards and the money is divided up. This is called the "showdown".
10 - If 2 people share the best high or low hand, the relevant pot is split between the players.
