In the beginning all the players ante up
for that particular hand which is about to be dealt. The amount
of ante depends on the table selected.
Two cards are dealt face down, followed
by 1 card, dealt face up to each player in the game. The face
up card is known as the "door card" or "Third
Street".
Next comes the first round of betting, starting
with the player who holds the highest door card.
After betting, one more face up card is
dealt to each player. The second face up card is termed as "Fourth
Street". This is followed by another round of betting.
Fifth Street, and another face up card is dealt.
The sixth card or " Sixth Street" is dealt face
up and the betting round takes place. The
last card is now dealt face down and the final round of betting
takes place. Each player now has 3 cards face down and 4 cards face
up. After this final round of betting the cards are shown and
the best 5 card poker hand wins the pot.
One of the unique game rules is that unlike
Texas Hold'em or Omaha, in any Stud game the player having
the highest ranking hand with face up cards bets first for
that round of betting, the bet then moves clockwise around the table.
