poker pro - money requirements

So you want to be a poker professional or you wish to use poker as a source of income. If you ever take care of one aspect of poker PLAY AT THE RIGHT LEVEL FOR THE BANKROLL YOU HAVE.
Your bankroll s the amount of money you have dedicated to playing poker, you can afford to lose this money. If you play at a limit that is too big for you rbankroll it will adversely affect your play or you will go broke. If you play at a limit that is too small for your bankroll you will not take the game seriously enough and your play will suffer.
So how should you know the right amount of bankroll to start with? Well, it is common opinion that you should have between 200-300 large bets depending ont he level of money you play for. This would mean that if you play $2-4 fixed limit holdem, you should have a bankroll between $800 and $1200. This should be enough to cope with the swings of poker and should achieve the main rule which is that you don't go broke during a bad run!Bear in mind that for pot limit and no limit games you will need considerably more.
To play $2-4 no limit or pot limit you should have no less than 3000 times the big blind or $12,000. Apply this rule to the level of game you wish to play and you should have a suitable bankroll for online poker. If you cannot succeed with the right bankroll you must question whether your play is good enough to play for a living.
It is important to start at the smaller levels and win your way up to the bigger ones. Many people make the mistake of starting too high, getting lucky and then eventually when the luck evens out they will go broke. If you find that your bankroll dictates you play a certain limit but that limit will not win you enough money for what you need, you simply cannot afford to play poker for your living yet. Playing on a bankroll that is too small is VERY stressfull indeed and highly unrecommended for a healthy happy life, it may alter how you play by making you either desperate or scared of putting your chips in.
