No one is sure of where and when poker originated but many believe it was in China around AD 900. Since then a lot of versions evolved but with its break-neck pace and downright easy rules Texas Hold'em gained the mass appeal.

There are different types of texas holdem such as no limit holdem, fixed limit holdem or more rarely pot limit holdem. No limit is simply the game where you can bet all the chips in front of you at any time in the hand. In fixed limit holdem you can only ever bet a set amount of chips in each round of betting. In pot limit holdem you can only ever bet the amount of chips that are in the pot at any one time.
