Omaha was created long after the invention of Texas Holdem. It was invented to cater for the players who liked maximum "action". The reason for this extra action is that instead of starting with two cards as you do in holdem, Omaha makes you start with four cards.Naturally, with four cards in your hand, there are more possible hands that people can make and thus they stay in more pots. More people in more pots means MORE ACTION.
In Omaha , you MUST use 2 cards from the 4 original cards you are dealt to make a 5 card hand using 3 of the 5 communal cards known as the flop. You can play fixed limit Omaha where you can only bet a set amount per betting round or you can play pot limit Omaha where you can bet as much as whatever money is in the pot.
