Passive collusion is where two people on the same table are in touch with each other by phone or instant messenger telling each other the cards they are holding. This may not sound like a huge advantage but to be able to rule out certain cards that you know are not left in the deck is a good edge and helps you calculate whether it is worth calling or not. There is no way of knowing those who use passive collusion.
