| Online Poker affiliate programs are the present and
the future of affiliate program marketing. There has been a huge
boom in poker on the Internet and that boom is showing no signs
of stopping for a long time to come. |
| Poker affiliate programs are commission based
deals between you and a poker company such as Party Poker for
example. You sign up for an affiliate account with them, and
they give you access to banners and links to place on your site.
These links have a code which is unique to you. When someone
clicks on your unique link and signs up with a poker site, you
are paid for the transaction. |
| Poker sites typically offer you two options
when you sign up with them. |
|
| CPA of cost per acquisition |
| With this plan, you are paid a certain amount
of money when someone signs up through your site and opens up
a poker account with the Poker site. The conditions are normally
that the person who signs up must deposit a certain amount of
money to qualify or play a certain amount of raked hands. |
| The monies you as the affiliate get for generating
the sign up, vary from $50-$100 generally. CPA has the advantage
of guaranteed money for your business but does not offer the
long term income of the next option. |
| Revenue Share Plan |
| The revenue share plan is generally the more
popular choice amongst webmasters. With this plan, when a person
signs up through your site for your affiliate’s poker site
and deposits real money into their poker account, their online
play is now tracked for the life of their account. Now, instead
of getting your up front sign-up fee as with the CPA, you will
get a percentage of the rake * that client generates (usually
between 25 and 40%). See the bottom of the page for details on
what rake is and how it is calculated. This share of the rake
is normally paid to you on a monthly basis. You can see at anytime
during the month, how much rake you are due to receive. |
| Most sites give you this share of the rake
for the lifetime of the players poker account. This means that
if you get a high roller or big stakes gambler, professional
gambler or any other person who likes to gamble a lot, it will
be worth a lot of money to you. The other beauty is that if you
sign up a lot of people, they are each month effectively earning
you an income as long as they are playing poker! |
| The revenue share plan will tend to pay more
money over time, if you do not mind waiting to receive it. We
always use this plan. |
| * The rake is the percentage of
the pot that the poker site takes as its commission after each
hand that qualifies. |
| To qualify, there must be a certain amount
of money in the pot. A decent professional gambler, who plays
40 hours per week, could expect to generate $6000 + in rake each
month, meaning around $1500-$2000 for you each month just in
commission. |
