Roulette Rules

There are two types of Roulette, American and European, but both fundamentally are the same. It is a very popular casino game played using a wheel with a dealer standing by to spin the wheel and add a ball. The ball eventually falls into a number on that wheel. Lets take a look at the rules...

1 - On the wheel there are 36 numbers, half of which are black, the other half are red. There are also one or two zero numbers on the board which are green in colour. The green numbers are effectively the houses edge over the punter.

2 - You also have a green felt mat on a table with these same numbers that you see on the wheel. This is where you bet on the outcome of the spin. There are also other sections you can bet on such as odd or even, red or black and different patterns of numbers that offer different odds.

3 - You place your chip/chips on  the number or numbers on the mat where you think the ball will fall after the wheel has spun. When the ball falls in your allocated number/numbers, the dealer pays you.

Types of bet

a) You can bet on an individual number by placing your chips on the middle of that number on the felt mat. If the ball subsequently stops on your number after the wheel has been spun, you will win 36 times your stake.

b) You can bet on the ball falling in an odd or even number which will make you your stake back plus on (doubes your stake). The same is true of betting on red or black. The dealer wins if the ball falls in either of the zero numbers ont he table.

c) You can bet on whether the ball will fall in the first twelve numbers, second twelve or third twelve numbers. This will pay you back 3 times your stake. Again, zero wins for the house.

d) You can bet on what is known as the "neighbours". This is where you win if you have bet on the numbers surrounding the eventual number the ball falls on. There are a few other bets but this covers the basics. There are better ways to play roulette but the house always has a slight edge, often around 2%.

People have won alot of money with software that stops the wheel attached to their ankles, predicting hte numbers on lopsided wheels where the bias makes the ball fall in a certain place more often.

There is a constant battle between the casino and the scammers.
