Craps is a great dice game for action or
social gambling.Learn the rules of craps and how to play craps in this
section.
1 - Craps is played at
a table with more than one player.
2 - Craps employs three dealers at a time.
Two stand behind the table to accept the bets or to pay the
winners or take from the losers. The other is there to handle
the dice with the use of a long rake.
3 - On the first roll of the dice, otherwise
known as the "comeout roll", the stickman will slide
five dice to the first player (shooter), the shooter then chooses
two of these dice.
4 - The shooter now throws these two dice
two the other end of the table. The dice must hit the wall
at the other end of the table to count.
5 - The shooter tries to establish a number
4,5,6,8,9 or 10 after which point, the dealer will take a "puck" that
says "off" on one side and "on" on the
other. He places this puck on the number rolled "on" side
up. It is always "off" ont he comeout roll.
6 - The shooter then tries to roll that
number agin before he rolls a seven. That is the entire
point of the game.
7 - As a punter who is not the shooter,
you have the chance to bet on the shooter or to back the dealer
and the fact that the shooter will roll a seven before his
number.
Many players favour the shooter, hoping for a hot streak
of dice. Betting on the shooter is betting on the "do's,
you are backing the shooter. When you bet on the "don'ts" you
are betting against the dealer.
8 - If the shooter throws a 7 or 11 on the
comeout roll, he wins immediately. The dealer will then pay
the do's and take the money from the dont's.
9 - If the shooter rolls a 2,3 or 12 on
the comeout roll, he loses and the players are paid or taken
from accordingly.
10 - If the shooter "craps out" and
rolls his number, then a 7, the dice is passed to the next
person to become the shooter.
